Places the Signal-Gazette staff visit when they're supposed to be working Humor Fairbay Plenty of comedy and lots more; see the Daily Aspect The Duke of URL Humor and tons of other links, on a site that is busy but superbly constructed Eric Snider A very funny young man; don't miss "Clash of the Titanic" The Chicago Public Library Cybrarian's picks Lots of useful and fun sites; the main library page is of course packed with good stuff NEW ! Dribbleglass Lots and lots of stuff here, we haven't been through anywhere near all of it, so expect the unexpected and hold on to the kids; see the pictures, nicely done. NEW ! The New Basford Times Take off your socks and swing them in the air as you read this newspaper from the UK. NEW ! The Lionel Fanthorpe Appreciation Page Lionel Fanthorpe churned out an estimated 180-plus science fiction novels in the 50s and 60s, some in as little as three days, and this site is full of hilarious excerpts. Typical plot: "A drunk, a neatness freak, an oral hygiene obsessive, and a small furry telepathic alien must face and defeat the giant eyeball that is threatening our galaxy." NEW ! Electronic Internet News Why? Because We Like You. A collection of satirical "news" stories. We particluarly liked the Enron picnic being in doubt, from February 2002. Humor directories Humorlinks A large directory; try their random links WWW Riot They advertise themselves as: The Anti-Portal: Get The Sites That You Are Looking For! Humorsource Lots of sites, be aware that some are adult 101 Funny Links This site changes constantly as new links are added to the top of the list, older ones are dropped from the bottom; some adult sites NEW ! Cosmosmith humorlinks A select-few site, and we're glad we made the grade! Links to a site that sells some seriously funny T-shirts Web cams Cocoa Beach, Florida Several cams, including one looking at the Cocoa Beach Pier, just about the favorite place of everyone at the Signal-Gazette (excluding the Tipple Time, of course) The Crown Bar, Belfast It's not the Tipple Time either, but there's still just something about watching people drink Melbourne Beach, Florida Maybe sign up for a surfing lesson Sloppy Joe's Hemingway's favorite, among the keys Africam Too cool. You can watch wildlife at several South African water holes, updates every minute or two. I saw a couple of elephants strolling into the water for a drink. They'll try to sell you stuff (the site owners, not the elephants), decide for yourself if you should buy. Middlebourne Water/Wastewater Cam From West Virginia, a very bad shot of a sewage treatment facility; the only question is why? History Meriwether Lewis Meriwether Lewis was commander of the Corps of Discovery that Thomas Jefferson sent into the Louisiana Purchase. The bi-centennial of that journey is approaching, and this site is part of the celebration. You'll find a chronicle of part of the trip, biographical information, links to other Lewis and Clark sites, and a Meriwether Lewis re-enactor who will visit your school, club, or event. Surfing Duke Boyd Surf cams, surf reports, surf legends, surf clothes - surf's definitely up at this site. Newspapers The Savannah Morning News Even if you've never seen the city (which is beautiful), Savannah's Morning News is worth reading. It's well written, always interesting, and a nice web site. Travel Tybee Island Online Tybee Island, at the mouth of the Savannah River a few minutes from Savannah, is a world all its own. The staff of the Signal-Gazette are lucky enough to spend a lot of time there, and this site will give you a good idea of why we love it. Things & Stuff EgoSurf Looks up your name on the net (or someone else's name). But unlike most search engines, they'll even look for a week if you want, and mail you the results. Big ego booster, unless of course you're not out there to be found ... Bookmark this site! |
